EdTec is Ready for CSDC 2018!

November 30, 2018

EdTec will be attending the 2018 Charter Schools Development Center Conference as a sponsor, exhibitor, and presenter! The conference takes place December 10-11 in San Francisco at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. We’ll be at Booth #18 at the Exhibitor Fair, so be sure to stop by to say hello and learn more about how we support California charters with charter petition development, back office, and school data and compliance.

We’re also excited to share that EdTec staff will present three sessions on Tuesday, December 10. These sessions are designed to educate charter school leaders about various aspects of charter school business operations. We invite you to attend “Your Guide to Financial Statements” from 8:00AM-  9:15AM in Salon 4, with Bryce Fleming, EdTec’s Senior Director of Client Management and School Finance, and Melissa Garcia of LIIF.  The session aims to make financial statements less intimidating for board members and charter school staff without a financial background. The presenters will provide an overview of financial terms and various financial statements, as well as tips for what to look for when monitoring a school’s fiscal health.

Our next session, “Preparing for Your Audit” is also scheduled for 8:00AM – 9:15AM, in Salon 2. Kelly Ellis, Client Manager, EdTec, together with Jim Rotherham of Squar Milner, LLP will discuss new requirements for the LCAP and one-time funding sources, as well as offer advice for how to ensure a smooth audit process.

Later on Tuesday, EdTec will present “Get Ready for Your Charter Renewal” from UPDATED TIME & LOCATION 2:00PM – 3:15PM in Salon 11.  EdTec team members Jennifer Reyes, Ed.D., Educational Support Services Manager; Annice Weinstein, Senior Manager, Assessment Data and Analysis; and Bryce Fleming, Senior Director of Client Management and School Finance, will share their expertise in charter school finance, governance, and student performance, and draw from lessons learned to provide advice about how to tackle the charter renewal petition process. This session will cover nearly all facets of the process, from reviewing the original charter to renewal petition advocacy.

We look forward to sharing our experiences and expertise with charter school leaders from across the state!
